My first point in answering your question is to ask you what you have done to this point to get ready. You say you're going "to Colorado", but you don't say where in Colorado. You say "a bunch of friends", but you don't say how old ya'll are, and how many males and how many females, and that can make a huge difference in plans. My most natural assumption (and you know what they say about assuming) is that you've already considered the "road-worthiness" of your Jeep, regardless of how old or new it may be, and how road-worthy are your tires, including a spare - and jack. I might "assume" that ya'll will probably drive up into higher elevations, and, not knowing much about Michigan, or where in Michigan you're from, I would wonder if you've considered how well your Jeep will perform in higher elevations, which, I've heard, can make a significant difference in your car's performance, or lack thereof. And I'd like to assume ya'll have discussed and/or decided on who's going to pay for how much of this trip, and which parts and how. That's VERY important in such an outing, and can make or break a trip like this if everyone isn't "on the same page" here. Please, for ya'll's sake, make sure your Jeep is in EXCELLENT condition and your tires are equally "qualified" for the trip, and that you do have an operating jack with you, and an inflated spare, and that someone has experience changing tires on that vehicle. There's so much to consider on any trip that what I've said barely scratches the surface of it all. I'm sure your other respondents have excellent ideas too, so I recommend you read them all. God Bless you all on your trip.

The first answerer was right on target. Figure out a route, maybe with some good stops along the way. Decide where you are going to spend a night, because you may need to do so. (If not, bring a pillow or two.) Come up with music that is agreeable to most.
