If someone was abused as a child and was an extremely sensitive person, does there come a time when the pain goes too deep to be corrected? Can the Psyche become too damaged?

Generally, once psychological damage has been done, it is very difficult to undo at any age. However, the faster the person receives help, the better.

No, with careful understanding of what has occurred and learning about the situation you could overcome any tragedy or travesty. In fact you become stronger as a person, its been said that knowledge is power and this is true, for when you know and understand why this has happened and leave it behind you, you grow stronger as a person. For you cannot go back and change what has been, but you can forgive the perpetrator when you understand why they have done what they did.
Try learning about human psychology and what makes us do what we do, all behaviour is learned, so for them to abuse someone, they too were abused at some point. Try and stop the pattern.

I think anyone can change at anytime. It takes the mindset of determination and willingness to do the hard work. However, that is not a statement taken lightly as it is very very difficult to overcome abuse. It really depends on the type abuse, the person, the severity of abuse how deep the damage goes. I do think there are some who can never overcome but don't fight for all you have as life is much too short to allow someone to take it from you.

Adult humans have few if any memories from before they were one and a half, so presumably anything before then would be forgotten. However, traumatic events tend to stay with a person, so anything after that threshhold of memory is probably going to be perminant.
