If you are talking about a local company offering wirless internet access, this usually means they will come and put up some sort of antenna, with a wire running from it, to an adapter or modem.. That modem will then connect to your normal LAN.

Wireless doesn't mean without wires.. It means fewer wires.

If you are wanting to add a wireless acess point to your current LAN, most of them you can purchase at a local retail store, with instructions on how to set them up. If you get a wireless router, make sure you disable DHCP on it.

You connect a wireless router (via wires) to the wired system and voila -- it works!

buy and installed a wireless router and bingo you will have a WiFi network
