I think it's a girls name. It would sound weird on a boy though. I know some people with the last name Cassidy.

WEll, I love the name Cassidy but, honestly, I think that if you named your SON that he would get made fun of. I knew a male Shannon when I was growing up and he was constantly the butt of jokes. I think Cassidy for a boy would be even worse. For a girl, I think it is great. I know someone named Lauren Cassidy. I thought that was pretty.

It is a unisex name, more common for females, but can be used for males. For example, there is a rapper named Cassidy. Only a few famous males come to mind, but Cassidy is a very common female name.

Cassidy has become more of a girls name. They probably picked the name up from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Cassidy was the surname of a couple of famious brothers in the 1970's and was quickly adopted as a boys name. And in a lot celtic familys they pass on the surnames of the wife's family in either the first or middle names of their sons.

There were bandits back in the mid 1800's
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
I think Cassidy could be either boy or girl.
