Why do we like movies that make us sad?

hey! i love the funny parts and near the end it pinched my heart and i wanted to burst into tears! i love the movie!!!

I cried ridiculously hard. A friend had died the day before I saw it and I was looking for something to cheer me up. I thought "Oh, Adam Sandler! Always good for a laugh." Yeah, not so much. Liked the movie a lot, though

Yeah, it made me really sad. I went to see it with my dad and he was actually kinda of like the same way. Work and never gets to see his family. So it made me sad cuz he is like that. Even though I have seen it so many times it still makes me cry. Why it makes us cry is because the director did a good job making us care about the character and it is realistic. So when we see him crying it made us sad. LOVE the movie!

It did not make me cry but it was sad. The lion king is the only movie so far that made me shed a tear

yes. i was bawling. i think that we like movies that make us cry just because you kind of imagine yourself in the other person's position and honestly, who really knows what they would do in another's situation. + i guess some cry movies get you to appreciate what you have, love, family, etc.

yeah i have seen it and it did make me tear up, it was really good! my high school english tacher once asked us why do we like to listen to sad love songs when we broke up with somebody while explaining to us what catharsis is. it means the realease of emotions i guess it has something to do with that, lol

Yes it almost made me cry because it was soo true my dad is the exact same way I just wish it was true

Then it goes back to him in the bed and i was so pissed!! Making me cry and then making it a dream!?? Grrrr.

Yes, I saw "Click" -- it made me almost cry and at times it made me laugh. His later movie "Reign Over Me" made me cry buckets!
