What? If that was true, then how would they make Zinc chloride?

Put a strip of metallic zinc in hydrochloric acid, and watch the reaction. It releases hydrogen gas. Combines just fine.

What do you mean? Zinc chloride is a pretty common substance. It is used in some medicine, lots fo industrial uses, wood preservative, a catalyst....
