W destroys that list. He lacks Hoover's inherent competence, but does have his rigid adherence to ideological precepts in the face of overwhelming contrary evidence. He's got Harding's tolerance for corruption and general lack of intelligence, but he lacks Harding's desire to essentially "run out the clock" on his term of office without destroying the country. He's got Carter's inappropriate religious language, but lacks his basic respect for mankind. Like Buchanan, he is helping to sow the seeds of a great national schism, but he's too power hungry to have stepped down after one awful term. He shares Johnson's dishonesty and foolish commitment to an unviable 3rd world military adventure, but has done more to prevent people from voting than Johnson did to encourage/protect it.

It's like some horrible lab experiment where the worst of all these unfortunate presidents were combined into one incomparable idiot. And then someone gave him Nixon's sense of ambition and power-entitlement, and Jeff Davis's disrespect for the US Constitution.

Worst. President. Ever.

No one can really say. For better or for worse, I know that none of the Presidents in my lifetime were stupid and current media elections make even the smallest mistake a disaster so it would have to be one from olden times. My guess would be Ulysses S Grant as he was a failure at everything he did in life except as a wartime general and even then he was far from brilliant. He seemed to have a knack at selecting the most corrupt people to trust too.

BTW: Carter was a lousy President but he was probably the most intelligent since another lousy President, Woodrow Wilson. Seems high intelligence is somehow a detriment to a President.

Ronald Reagan is the dumbest president for taking America away from a pension retirement system to 401Ks. Reagan also introduced US to trickle down voodoo economics so that labor is taxed at twice the rate of capital gains

Amazing how Bush is suppose to be this complete idiot and yet masterfully spun this complex and downright evil plan to lie and deceive the American people, even convincing hapless Democrats to go along with him, into starting an illegal and unjust war just so Haliburton could get a few exclusive contracts, Bush would gain personal access to billions of dollars worth of Iraqi oil, and Bush Jr could take out Saddam for daddy.

The question should be "Do Liberals even listen to themselves?"

If you want a honest answer, LBJ. Regardless of how we got into Vietnam, placing those kinds of unreasonable limits on our military was the single dumbest thing any American President has done.

And the two A-Bombs had to be dropped. More would've died if we hadn't dropped them.

/EDIT: Ooo, quotes! Yippie! Can I play?

Clinton quotes:

"We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans"

"You know the one thing that's wrong with this country? Everyone gets a chance to have their fair say."

"When I was a younger man and had a life, I owned an El Camino pickup in the '70s. It was a real sort of Southern deal. I had Astroturf in the back."

"No question that an admission of making false statements to government officials and interfering with the FBI is an impeachable offense." - Bill Clinton, 1974 quoted in the Arkansas Gazette

And my favorite:

"If a President of the United States ever lied to the American people he should resign." - Bill Clinton running for US Representative in 1974

I dont think a president could be stupid. The stupid would be the people who didnt vote if they didnt want a president to be there. You had to be smart enough to win.

Ok lib. You know you're trying to get people to say President Bush. But probably Herbert Hoover. He presided over Black Friday in 1929 that caused the Great Depression and couldn't get us out of it. I asked my grandfather (now deceased) once when he thought the Great Depression ended and he said he felt it was when we entered World War II in 1941 because of the increase in industry production for the war effort.
