A little while ago, I fell backwards out of my computer chair and landed on my right side, and from then on my shoulder has hurt. Recently, I have noticed it popping a lot, and its extremely loud and painful. Lately, it has been sooooooooo painful and hurts when I breathe. My mom is just blowing it off, but I am really worried and it is hiking up my anxiety.. could it just be bursitis? I have bursitis in my knee, andkles and hip on my right side. If you have any questions I will respond... PLEASE help.. should I be concerned?

NO BURSITIS. I have bursitis and it comes from underexercising, which is not your case. I'd question the bursitis diagnosis, because bursitis is for the overweight and older people. Arthritis maybe. Anyway--

This is clearly an injury-type problem. You need an x-ray, right now. If something's broken, and it probably is, it could be growing back together in an improper position.

A friend of mine fell out of bed and landed on her right side. Somehow, she broke her shoulder. I think you may have done the same thing.

In the meantime: RICE

Rest
Ice (20m on/20m off)
Compression (ace bandage)
Elevation (above heart)

This nemonic will work for any closed-type injury or sprain.

Good luck, honey.

Insist. Call your dad if necessary. Call grandma, aunt Betty, anybody with some pull with your mom. Do you know a neighbor who's a nurse or a doc or an EMT? Bring in the neighbor, old Mrs. Smith, who wouldn't be frightened to tell your Mom, get her to a dr. Cry, let her try to manipulate your arm and let her see what happens when she does.

Does school start soon? Go straight to the nurse's office and have the nurse tell your mom it's urgent.

Bursitis, as I'm sure you know, tends to burn, or be uncomfortable.

Chances are you mildly dislocated it, which stretches the tendons and ligaments, and allows it to move around more freely.

That alone, I would not be worried about, but since there is pain, you need to get to a doctor. I'm an army medic, and any time there is pain with something like that, it needs to be looked at. You never know what hidden problems there might be. Cartilage, tendons, ligaments, bones, bursa sacks, muscle tissue, so many things in there that something could be wrong with.

If it hurts, get it looked at. Don't be worried, shoulder injuries are common and easily treated, and very often just go away, but that's not ALWAYS the case.

Just go have it examined. Hope this helps.

I would try talking to your mom and telling her that it is really sore and you want to go to the doctor. I think you might want to get it checked out just to be on the safe side.
