Life-long Giants fan here. I consider the trade for Eli to be one of the worst trades in sports history so far. I don't consider Rivers to be any better than Eli, so the trade was decent in that respect. However, they gave up draft picks, one of which turned into the pick of Shawne Merriman. Go figure, now the Giants are weak @ linebacker. That's giving up way too much for equal players. As many have said, this is Eli's year to show us Giants fans somethin' special. Things aren't looking good with Tiki gone and Strahan undecided about his football future. If he can work some magic and get us into the playoffs, I may change my opinion about him. I'm entering this season with low expectations for Eli and Big Blue.
The surprising return of coach Coughlin is another thing that's hurting the Giants. I was shocked to hear they extended his contract after all the turmoil and failures. Leaders like Tiki and Strahan don't want to bother with it.

I'm not a Giants fan, but I have to tell you, you can't tale the Peyton effect out of the equation. I think there's too much pressure on Eli to be as good as Peyton. He's holding his own. The Giants managed to get into the playoffs last year. Let's not forget how much Peyton sucked his first two years. Experience is the key.

As a Giants fan, that is been problematical watching Eli strengthen. He has a great interest and then the subsequent interest he sounds like he's a retard. it somewhat is frequently up and down, up and down. I in part blame Coughlin, that is been reported that his offense is extremely complicated and takes time to get use to. it somewhat is have been given to be lots for a clean qb in the NFL. I surely think of that he would be great in the subsequent 2 years. My prediction is that 2006 would be his spoil out season and 2007 is while he will replace right into a precise tier QB in the NFL. The O-Line is getting extra constructive and extra constructive each 365 days. that is in basic terms a count of time till he leads the GMEN to the Superbowl.

The problem with Eli is Tom Coughlin he is a bad coach, why do think Tiki left? The giants have all the weapons and it is not one person who is at fault it is the whole staff. The reason Peyton was so good was he had Dungy, Rivers had Marty and Big Ben had Cowher.

My husband say's "what happened was san diego drafted him and he was very blatant on not wanting ot play out there..so the Giants had Rivers...so they made an even swap for Rivers and Manning........so Mannign came to Giants and Rivers went to San Diego...lol...Rivers was awesome for San Diego and manning was a dud! I think he needs more experience....and he will be fine. Perhaps take awhile before he can be as good as his brother...however, keep in mind...most quarterbacks don't come in and do awesome right away...it takes experience. Give him some time. GO GIANTS!!

Man you run your words together way too much... stop rambling and try using some punctuation. Anyways I personally think that while Eli has disappointed a lot of people so far, that this year will in fact be his break out season that he has been waiting for. Now that he doesn't have his crutch Tiki Barber to fall back on anymore the games will be on his shoulders in the clutch situations. Needless to say this season it is time for Eli to put up, or shut up. Even if he stinks the place up this year, I don't think the Giants will let him go or trade him, they've invested entirely too much into Eli to give up on him.

There is just no consistency.
One sunday he has one of the best comebacks in the last years (vs Philadelphia) and the next week he throws 3 interceptions (vs Seattle).
After starting 6-2 and looking like the real deal, he finished 2-6, 2-7 including the playoff loss, looking like 2 completely different QBs.

Peyton didn't get the hang of big games until last year. Give the kid some time, he'll be good. Ben and Philip have far superior teams around them.

if he cant get anything done this year the giants need to make some kind of a move for a good runningback or quarterback involving eli manning
if he doesnt have a good year this year its never going to happen and the giants need to come to that sad realization

hard to tell really.. he had some great come backs at the beginning of last season... and then the o-line got hurt and he was scattering all over the place...
personally I'd like him better if Shockey could hold onto a pass.
yo.. shocked doesn't even cover the rage I feel about Coach C. and his extension!
