It is my understanding that it takes wisteria 5-10 years to bloom. According to Wikipedia "seeded specimens can take decades to bloom; for that reason, gardeners usually grow plants that have been started from rooted cuttings or grafted cultivars known to flower well. Another reason for failure to bloom can be excessive fertilizer (particularly nitrogen). Wisteria has nitrogen fixing capability (provided by Rhizobia bacteria in root nodules), and thus mature plants may benefit from added potassium and phosphate, but not nitrogen. Finally, wisteria can be reluctant to bloom because it has not reached maturity. Maturation may require only a few years, as in Kentucky Wisteria, or nearly twenty, as in Chinese Wisteria. Maturation can be forced by physically abusing the main trunk, root pruning, or drought stress."

Hope this helps
Good luck

Wisteria do take a long time to bloom. I planted two at the same time about five feet apart over a pergola, the purple one started blooming after about 5 or 6 years the second one has never bloomed and it has been another 5 years. Ours started, well one of ours started to bloom after we put in a patio next to the plant and actually injured the roots. When we asked about this our nursery friend said that a plants purpose is to reproduce and when a plant is harmed and begins to think it might die it will give off flowers, of course that turn into seeds, to make sure the plants lineage is passed on. The same reasoning applies to dead heading flowers to keep them blooming.

Call your local nursery & ask them. I'm sure they would be able to answer your question. I have Wisteria bush in my front yard. It was here when I moved in. It was about to blossom, this past spring, but a frost got to it before it could blossom. Hopefully next spring, I will be able to enjoy the beauty of it's purple flowers.

If it is in full sun.... just be patient - it can take 5 or more years to bloom. Feed it and wait!
