Well when they call you at 8am or 8pm at night, it sorta leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

I hate more than anything when I'm trying to get the kids ready for bed or feed them breakfast and the phone is ringing asking me if I want to subscribe to some pointless publication.

Not to mention they are never honest. There is always some catch, and they don't know how to take NO for an answer.

When I say I'm not interested I do not want to hear 1000 times over about how I will benefit in the long run...

People know what telemarketing is about so if they chose to earn their paycheck that way, then they can deal with angry mothers and fathers on the other end.

I would never be that desperate to earn a paycheck! These people call at the worst times to question you. Do you enjoy these calls when you work your 8 hours, pick up the kids on the way home, make dinner, finally sit down to enjoy a little bit of time with your family, and a telemarketer calls? Or you've got your little ones in the tub, or you're trying to have a romantic dinner, or had a crappy day... I, myself, would work at a fast food restaurant rather than disturbing people who I know will resent my intrusion on their time.

It's a combination of things. One is the tendency (sometimes it seems that way) for telemarketers to call at bad times, such as dinner. Another is how even if you show you're not interested, how they go on and on and on, giving you no choice other than hanging up. Now I know not every single telemarketer is like that, but those are a couple things the annoying ones do.

I understand that they are trying to make a buck, and God know's I can respect that, and I do feel for them because they DO get the brunt of a lot of frustration when they call, but then again...if you ARE a telemarketer, you know you're job is to be annoying. You expect that people won't welcome your call. If they wanted your product, they'd seek you out. No one likes to be strong-armed into making a purchase they didn't want to begin with. The people they're calling have also worked hard for their money, and it's frustrating to be bullied or to have someone THINK they can outsmart you out of your own hard earned cash, not to mention that it's really aggravating to know that some company has access to your phone number and is using it to pester you. On another little side note, if you could just say 'No thank you. I'm not interested right now.' and have that be the end of it, it might be different but they don't take 'no' for an answer. You're almost forced to be rude because while they expect you to respect them enough to listen to the sales pitch, they don't want to be respectful to you when you say 'no'.

There are better ways to earn money. Telemarketers always call when it is inconvenient and they will not take no for an answer. It makes me feel bad because I can't help with what they want and I can not be rude and just hang up.

I know, I was a telemarketer. At the very least, I made many understand that I was a person, and I did value their opinion. I had to find a job at the time, I was out of school for the summer, and my son needs food on the table.

I don't hate the telemarketers, just telemarketing. It's an invasion into your home. I realise that they are just doing a job, and all their tactics are handed to them from above, but just cuz it's a real person, it doesn't mean you can't tell them they have a dumb job. For the record, for the ones that won't let you speak, I put the phone down, (not hung up) and walk away. And, for the ones that let me speak, I say, "please remove my number from your calling list."

I dislike telemarkers because its bad enough to bad advertised to on television in the things a I read, going down the road to get a million pop ups on my computer, and now they even have them at the movies. Advertisment is everywhere.
Telemarketing is a person that somehow all the annoyances build up and it gets taken out on them. I realize its just a persons job, I try to be nice, but some people from places like india are so persistant I end up getting mad and yelling at them then hanging up.
I don't like to treat people like that, but I don't like to be constantly sold to either. very aggrivating.

Yes they're only earning their paycheck. agreed.
But think about the loss of time, interuptionsthey caused to others?

Aren't we all just earning our paychecks at work?
So it's not really fair is it when some people earn theirs by annoying/interupting others at work?

I don't hate them, I like to talk to them *Evil Smile*
It's really fun talking to the ones over seas...

But anyways, it's just a common conception built over time.

However it is built on some "bad apple" telemarketers, that tend to be very rude.

and of course it's easy to remember the bad apples, so thats why.
