Children grow up with technoligy. Do not take it personaly that they are laughing, you just do not know the lingo! If you want to surprise them you can learn their lingo on this site. You can go to the search box type in the word or words and they will tell you what the lingo is. So next time your children say lingo you will know what it means.

You are way to sensitive, it is no biggie. they laughed b/c THEY found it funny. It is a little bit. Kids these days are more into technology and computers and adults just aren't. It is a fact and should not be to make you sad. It just is.

Kids love to laugh at parents, IM means instant message and I guess it isn't meant to be pronounced as a word...or they are just being mean

Just because kids nowadays are more into technology than their parents are. We've grown up knowing it as IM and since it's new to adults, they pronounce it their own way. Don't worry, it's not your fault.

IM = instant message, as in an instant message sent using a program such as Yahoo! Messenger.
