Nursing does burn extra calories and help to shrink your uterus back down to its pre-prego size by stimulating contractions, BUT your body holds onto extra weight when you breastfeed. My daughter is 10 weeks old and I still have about 10 or 15 pounds to lose, but I am confident that it will be easy once I wean her. Your body holds on for dear life to a few extra fat stores while you breastfeed to make sure your baby will be sufficiently nourished. You are giving your baby a fabulous first gift and just remember, a few extra pounds are worth it for that little miracle. Experts do not recommend dieting until you have finished breastfeeding. You can eat healthfully and get some cardio a few days a week to help burn some calories. Also, do not overeat. Good luck and congratulations on your baby!

My daughter is 4 1/2 months old, I breastfeed and I am JUST NOW starting to see results from my rigorous workouts and personal training sessions. I was so discouraged at first. But then all of the sudden I started dropping pounds (about 2 pounds a week). I did have to boost my cardio workouts a little more than I like. I prefer weights but now do 40-50 minutes of cardio 4 times a week. I would suggest keeping up the exercise routine and be patient. Good luck.

everyone's body is different. It took me 2.5 months, but I was a little heavy to begin with and I only gained 28 lbs. Then I gained 10 lbs due to lots of factors. I understand your frustrations! What kind of exercise are you doing and for how long? Also, you can eat completely healthy food, but if you are eating too much of it, it will hamper your weight loss. Try Weight Watchers Core program or the South Beach Diet. Those really helped me when I was trying to get back into my old jeans.

I breast fed full time for 6 months and lost very little weight. I am now weaning my baby and only feed him morning and night. I am going on holiday in 2 weeks and would love to lose my wobbly belly. I exercise and eat healthily but still the belly remains. Everyone says to me it takes time....by which stage baby no 2 comes along and the whole process starts again I imagine!!!

The rule of thumb is 9 months up, 9 months down. I breastfed for over a year & the weight didn't come off until around the 10 month.

Maybe your trying to hard....Exercising that much with a new baby is hard going, the breast feeding will tighten your tummy muscles helping by contracting the uterus. But are you eating enough naughty things to help the weight loss? But sometimes your shape will change so might be time to get new jeans. 3 months is nothing stay positive.

It takes 9 months to put it all on!
I breast fed my babies and it takes realistically about 6-9 months to get rid of it. You sound like you are doing the right things, no body should judge you for having a bit of weight on after having a baby!!
It is normal, new mums who snap back into shape are NOT normal!

When I breast fed I carried extra weight but nursing a baby does burn calories. Keep up the healthy life style and you will be back to your normal self in a month or two. Drink lots of water too. You will be a hot mom soon!

How much did you gain? I was about 3 months before i could fit into my fat jeans. Iam 6 months and can fit into some of my normal pants.
Remember you get hips with babies, so if you used to have skinny jeans that hugged your curves, theyre just not going to fit anymore. That teenage body is gone. And its a good thing. Moms have hips. Not fat, just hips.
It will happen.

Not what you want to hear, but not all women lose weight while nursing. I am one of them. I gained. I finally went from a size 10 to a size 6 after my youngest daughter weaned. Not sure what my weight was/is.
