ants USUALLY COME FROM THE OUTSIDE IN ! If this is the case put a layer of Boric acid or DIATOMATIOUS EARTH around the outside and the inside foundation of your home! Ants won't cross that line, and neither will most other bugs.
But there is a chance that the ants have all ready established them selves in your house so look for sign of sawdust piles, in the basement or at the outside foundation of the home. Then you might have to take more serious measures to control the insects. But, usually the Earth or Boric Acid will do the job very well!

ants enter in search of food, warmth and shelter, establish thier trail and cut it off. destroy and wipe up all the ants you can find, destroy nests by pouring boiling water into the entrances of nests, stir up the soil then do it again, or using a small hand duster, blow some boric acid powder (in chemists) into nest entrances or cracks and crevices where they live. or you can try kerosene or turpentine in their nest. some organic repellents such as talcum powder, cream of tartar, borax (but dont let near children or pets its poision), powdered sulphur, lemon juice or peel, charchoal dust, eucalyptus oil or oil of cloves or plant mint around the house. crumbed bay leaves on shelves, and this works well if u put a bay leaf in canisters to keep them away.
a mixture of borax and sugar in a small bowl works well too, in the garden there is antsand availiable and chemicals or bone meal.
for an ant trap use 1/3 cup molasses, 6 tablespoons of sugar, 6 tablespoons of active dry yeast, stir all together, in bowl till a paste, dip strips of cardboard in the paste and place in areas- you can also use bottle tops. - great ant trap. little pests, i hope this helps you.

I had these when I was stupid enough to store firewood in my garage one winter. Nothing worked until I bought Home Defense. You spray it around the exterior perimerter of the house. No problems since....
