I was there on Sunday (and what a ripoff the place is). Everyone was just fine, extracting money wherever possible. There is a rather tacky Steve Irwin memorial wall thing.

Australia has many zoos, which one do you mean? The two greatest are Taronga Park in Sydney and the Melbourne Zoo with Healesville Sanctuary just outside Melbourne and the Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo up there as well. Adelaide Zoo is worth a visit too. There is a very commercial place near Brisbane I wouldn't bother with unless you are prepared to spend squillions.

I was a volunteer there a few months ago, and the place is just fine. Obviously, it's not to everyone's taste!! It is an amazing place to most people, and provides a lot of unique activities that you wont find in ANY other zoo in the entire world!
