I told my husband That our daughter WILL NOT be named Bonequisha or Broomhilda...so he suggests we look at female saint names.
I Picked:
Perpetua
Gianna
Charlette-Ava
Regina
Yvette
and Prisca(thats my wildcard name I THOUGHT he would like it.)Isn't this not a unique name?
His Picks:
Olga
Severa
Tudy
Musa
Tanca
and Winifred <-------his wild card (and i wish i was lying)
I mean seriously...Are these any better than Broomhilda and Bonequisha?????

I know that not ALL men give bad names...but really....WHAT IS HE THINKING?!?!
This is something that is going to last forever it's not like it's candy-you eat it then it's gone.
Any suggestions for African-American baby names?

Wow, his names are definitely out there.
But hey, guys don't put much thought into names.
I don't think that they realize an actual human will be named this, and all the people the child will meet, etc.
I do like Gianna and Charlette-Ava!

My husband has great taste in baby names. For our 1st child, he picked out the names Alexis, Gianna, Serena, Chanel (middle name), Isabella/Isabelle, and Emily/Emilia. Then I liked the name Andrea and Chanel together so we decided on Andrea Chanel. He said if we ever have a boy, we'll name him Alex, Daniel, Jayson, Kyle, or Brian. I love all those names except for Jayson, not a big fan of Jayson.
Some people just have weird taste though. Your husbands names are pretty different though, a bad kind of different. I like Gianna,Regina, and Charlotte- Ava. His names are weird and just plain ugly....lol. Then Broomhilda and Bonequisha??? I mean seriously, BROOM and BONE?!?!? It's crazy!! All I gotta say is, Good luck!!

I don't know...I think there must have been some mishap when God made the first man. From there things just went downhill. lol. But I do Like Charlette-Ava and Gianna as well as Yvette. Don't worry about the people on here, because they won't be the ones dealing with your child. They probably never ever will see her.I'd try to go for something more African like Safiyah....
Good Luck!

Oh God. Imagine someone asking Broomhilda out. BROOM! I dont know why. I was going to be named Banarnay. Thank God mom said no! lol. Boys can choose good names fpr boys, but they dont know what it is like to be a girl and how to choose a good name for a girl.
Yes they are WAY better names. Yvette is my personal fav on your list.

Well, from your list I like Gianna and Yvette. The others...not so much. From his list I only like Winifred (yes, I know you hate it).
But all of yours and his are MUCH better than Broomhilda and Bonequisha. I dislike all names that end with -sha. But that's just me.

Well, it is his child, and his intetntions are good. You should insist on picking the 1st name then give him the right to pick the middle name. You might be surprised at what he picks in the end, and that your daughter doesn't ever hate it, but loves that her father picked a name for her. He needs to be a part of the naming process. It's just the middle name afterall. Plus you pick the 1st name then he has to pick a name that goes with it. Just make a home full of love and it won't matter what you name her.

LOL I get you. My husband suggested "Astaroth and Sephiroth" for twins. Im so not making this up, you cant make that up. Its from a video game, of course, but then I looked it up and apparently Astaroth is also a demon! And Sephiroth has something to do with Kaballah. I told him they make great names for two big doberman's but not little babies! He's brought up Mortal Kombat names too....sigh. Its a man thing.
Anyway... I kinda like Winifred. Its a little old-fashioned and thats nice. The others of yours that I like are Gianna and Yvette. Very pretty and elegant.

I figure that men choose the most awful names they can to get out of the task. They know that we Moms' but a lot of thought and effort into the perfect name for our babies.
Let the man name the puppy, but ladies take the lead and name the baby.

If you want to teach your child your home language, you are entitled to and should not let others dictate how you should teach your child. That person was profiling and seems racist. Do not let it bother you too much. The only one that you need to worry about is your baby, and give him all the love you can. I teach my son Filipino and English. Your baby will learn english very well in school. Children that know two languages or more are smarter than children that only learn one language. It is why schools offer different languages to students. Studies have shown this.

I like Pertua.
I went to St. Priscilla's Catholic Church and grammar school when I was a child. I always like the name and the saint.
I think that "some" men pick terrible baby names as they
don't give it much thought the way women do and they are in a hurry to think of a name,
