I am 8wks also and have growig/stretching pains as well as round ligament pain which I hear isn't suposed to happen until the 2nd trimester. My abdomen is also firm and jeans are no longer an option, I have already started wearing maternity jeans for comfort. Everything and anything is normal now.

Every woman is different - some women do not 'show' until month 7-8...some women begin to show at month 3-4. It just depends on your body. You abdomen should feel a little different - as long as you are not in a lot of pain or discomfort I wouldn't worry. As long as you are receiving prenatal medical care you should be safe. Take a prenatal class - look in the phone book under Children's Services & call around - usually non-profit places hold them for free. There you can connect with other moms & get good infor & usually food/milk. Congratulations!!!

It will start to grow and stretch, but usually not so early. I had the same feelings, and I had some cramps, so I talked to a doc, and they brought me in and did an ultrasound. Most women in the first trimester experience a lot of gas, and that may be what is expanding your abdomen. It happens to a lot of women, and I got mad when my cramps were dismissed as gas (embarrassed!) But that is usually what it is.

Everyone is different, i guess it would all depend on your body. If your thin, its very possible to start to feel firm at 8 weeks.

I didn't start to notice anything till i was about 12 weeks along.

Good Luck!

No, its perfectly normal. however, at this point most of what you are noticing is most likely bloating and water retention but you will also feel some light twingy cramps, because your uteris is begining to stretch and grow.
