In a couple of weeks I will be going to our 40th! I went to the 10th and the 20th. The 30th was cancelled. I am looking forward to going. I was glad to read that you had a lot of fun at your 50th. My husband and I both graduated from the same highschool the same year, so he is looking forward to going too!! I hope we have as much fun as you did!!

My 50th high school reunion just occurred. I didn't go. I wasn't that taken with my fellow students when I was a kid and I sure ain't now that they're all wrinkly. Beside that, I kind of figured this was just a last hurrah of the former BPs (beautiful people) to try to capture their magical memories of yesteryear when they commanded so much attention and were a legend in their own mind.
My close friends at the time were all from different schools. Why? Don't know. It just worked out that way.

I went to my 40th and it was great! People were over trying to impress each other. It was really easy to go up to anyone and just start talking and telling funny stories.
I remember when my mom took my dad to her 50th high school reunion. She didn't know what to wear so I lent her one of my going-out-somewhere-really-special dresses. I bought it at an antique store. It was made when women wore peplins, which is a skirt-like thing that lays over a skirt. It looks like the bottom of a jacket, only fuller.
She looked so pretty and daddy looked handsome. I felt like they were going on a date and I was the mom, saying "Have fun!"
Mom was kinda shy in school, but she saw a man at the 50 year reunion that she had a crush on back when. She just walked right up to him and told him in front of his wife that she used to have a crush on him. Isn't that cute? And after being married as long as he probably was, I'm sure the wife got a big kick out it.
Eight more years for me... I can't wait!

My high school class held their 50th reunion in April I chose not to attend. I left Brooklyn shortly after graduating from Brooklyn Tech High School. Both the borough and the school are from a different time and a different place.

Went to my 40th...was bored stiff...nothing in common with anyone any longer...we had all gone our own way, different lives, even those who I was so close to in HS were strangers...That is just how life is...I am glad you enjoyed yours, most do. What was surprising was how much/how little some had changed. Funny, the ones that I liked were NOT from my clique..they were the side fringe bunch that had quiet lives in HS, turned out to be fascinating. The "VIPS" were heafty (fat, let's face it), the men were, to a tee, fat, all but unrecognizable, and the women were in decent shape....some of them looked damed good!...much prettier than they were in HS. And the ones you would have thought to have an ordinary life were riding high, many of the "successful" in HS were very ordinary, leading ordinary, if not boring lives. All everyone wanted to talk about was their grandchildren. Now I have grandchildren, but let's face it...none of us are interested in other's grandkids...certainly not me!

My 40th is coming up next year, but it's back East and there aren't that many people I really want to see. My life-long best friends lives in the same state as me, and all the others are scattered and not much interested in going either. But, someone who is going promises to take pictures for me!

No. Only went to my 10th, and never looked back. But a 50ths must be something.
