How come in times when tabbed web browsers are so popular, there aren't many full featured tabbed file managers to choose from? Don't most people want to open folders in tabs, too?

So what do you think is currently the best tabbed file manager? In terms of having a clean modern interface, customizability, compatibility, and features? I've tried Total Commander and, personally, I didn't like it's old school non-standard interface.

For Windows, I have no idea. For Linux, though, Konqueror (which is also a web browser) can open folders and even pictures in tabs.

permit's say you open MS notice, MS Excel, Powerpoint, InternetExplorer on your workstation and assume that this takes up all the RAM which you have on your workstation. Now, you unfolded yet another application - say a interest. because of the fact there is not any RAM available for the workstation to load this application (all the RAM is already used up with the classes which you opened earlier), what the OS (Win XP on your case) does is it takes the Least recently Used (additionally observed as LRU set of rules) application and writes its documents and state (state meaning - the place the cursor grew to become into, if there as any notice that grew to become into highlighted, etc) directly to a undeniable area on the not basic-power - this actual place on not easychronic is observed as 'pagefile'. Now permit's say after enjoying the interest for a on a similar time as, you wanna swap lower back to the MS notice - which grew to become into already written to the not basic-disk - pagefile, the working device will load the information from the pagefile into your device's RAM, yet to attain this, it is going to could create some area interior the RAM. This it does by utilising writing the subsequent LRU application from RAM into pagefile - it is observed as context swap and explains non everlasting freezing up of your workstation once you have an excellent sort of classes opened and alt-tab to a application which you opened a on a similar time as lower back.
