The DESIRE TO LOVE. It takes with it all other positive desires like the desire to know how to make the relationship last...To change into someone more loving and more understanding, and go forth to better yourself to become worthy of that love... To succeed so you have more to offer your love in terms of security and contentment beyond today.

The best thing to desire in my opinion, would be the desire to CHANGE the problems around us. Not just to acknowledge the injustice that is rampant everywhere, but to have the WILL to do something about it! The desire to change conditions and situations so that they bring happiness to people, the desire to see people at peace. If everyone had this desire, there would only be goodwill and peace in society :).

The most essential to a person for his own survival would be the desire to learn. The more a person learns, the more wisdom one acquires. And once he is wise, he will always make the right decisions and choose the right actions. When a person really LEARNS from his mistakes, he will not repeat them. The more one learns, the more one succeeds.

Desire to love is not the same as 'loving' itself, it seems like a 'desire' to love requires effort. And love should come effortlessly. The other desires require effort, yet one should see through the effort, as these desires are for betterment.

I feel all are essential. If I had no desire to succeed I would never apply myself, continue to learn, or pursue any endeavor. I would just find nothing worth the effort, it would all be too much trouble. The desire to know is just as necessary. Without this desire I would not learn, I would be programed all my life. this basic desire has fueled man's quest in all areas from technology, Religion, science, psychology, philosophy, & any other area you can imagine. The desire to love is also just as essential as the above two. We all feel a deep seeded need for a partner, someone to share our efforts, successes, failures, joys & fears. We were never meant to live alone, & that desire for love is a basic building block of all cultures. What good is the three above if I must do it all alone. This desire fuels the three above & they are all interdependent on each other.By desire to change or transform I suppose you mean the desire to grow, & this also is a basic need. Without the desire to grow, whether it be Spiritually, emotionally, mentally, or ethically, again we could not experience any of the previous desires. Like in nature, when we stop growing, we start to die. I believe that all these desires are interdependent & each relies upon all the others to keep us mentally healthy, motivated, & happy. Lose even one & the person suffers.

Of all the desires you mentioned, the desire to know is the most essential. Because if you have the knowledge, the desire to love, succeed and change will just follow suit. The desire to know is the basic concept of acquiring concepts and ideas. It is where you acquire all the desires in life being its foundation.

Hi Enki...I believe it all depends on the individual. Some individuals have the desire to succeed to where it over powers them with greed, power, and lust but no love. Then you have those certain individuals that desire love since they have never experienced love in their life. Then you have the intellects that have the desire to have knowledge or to learn more of what they have already learned, they want more but yet have lost on love because knowledge is more important than to find love or to have the desire to change. So in my opinion it all depends on what the individual wants and their needs to make their life complete. What is your essential desire? Have a great day!

I think it is the desire to succeed. How many times have you heard the phrase I want you to have it better than I did. The desire to succeed is drilled into us I think.making it the most essential not to mention that if you do not succeed you pretty much have no desire to accomplish any of the others you listed.

I think there mainly is a desire to know. if you can study situations, you will learn to know what you desire. if you know...say in your job what you want to achieve, then you should be able to find ways to succeed. and if you can't find ways to succeed immediately, you should change the stumbling block in the way of your success. Then when you succeed, you will love the results.

desire to know...because by being educated and informed about the world around you....you will then be able to succeed, love, change, and learn more about facts and yourself. if you know something, it is part of you forever. so you will succeed, love and change for the best if you have the desire to know.♥

I seem to have a difficult time with the word "desire," because it's formal substitute for "want" has a taint of avarice in it, & also, the special province of desire refers to sexual or sensual appetitie. But I'll try.
Succeed as in winning has no application for me.(I prefer to "accomplish.")
To love, entirely without the appendage of procreate, isn't something I desire, but have enjoyed.
To know/learn is inevitable in my life. This constantly enriches me.
Changing/transforming, is also a natural evolution of myself that I suspect will continue until I "turn my toes up" (my mum used this to mean death, & every night when I was between, say 4 to 6 years old, when I went to bed, I was apprehensive because my toes were always turned up! What a literal kid!)

I'd have to make the choice of learning, as with open mind & senses, everything else seems to fall into place.

Essential: Desire to know

*You could live without aiming for SUCCESS - although that's a plus. Even unsuccessful people could be happy. You could be unsuccessful without being a failure.
*You don't desire to LOVE - that should be automatically felt
*You must know first what things need CHANGE

We must always strive for knowledge. Then will we only know what the right things really to do are.
