I think that's a good question actually.
I spent a lot of my life fairly patriotic.
Then I ran into trouble a few years ago, and I've had a lot of trouble surviving, finding work, helping my family. There was a stretch of two years where I was jobless. During that time the IRS and the NY State dpet. of taxation hounded me over a few measily hundred dollars. I paid, but it wasn't easy.
If the people who take my taxes == my government then, no:
they don't love me. They love my money.
As far as the America that is fellow Americans, and NOT a govt. agency... I don't know if that America loves me. On the streets of that America I see rudeness, distraction, hostility, unkindness.
I'm not sure America loves anybody... including itself.
A good question you asked.
Sorry if the answer sounded like bashing.

As a son of a Air Force Master Sargent I have a very deep love for America. Yes America does loves back but you have to look for it. Sadly, America is run by people that have all the money. America is the best country in the world.
There are a lot of men and women have given there life to keep this country free, and others come home with missing limbs and others have lost there minds. what makes me made is that some people don't even take off their hats or put their hands over their hearts as the flag goes by. So no matter what happens always remember to love your country and all those that serve it or have served it.

By America, I assume you mean the American government.
You, I, we are grist for the mill.
If it weren't for us citizens, the government would cease to exist. Therefore, the govt wants you to prosper, somehow, and render unto it that which it requires from you in order to continue to function.
That the govt wishes you to prosper and be "happy" and "content" is understood since, as the govt knows, if I or you or, even worse, WE ever figure out, collectively, that the govt has gone way beyond what legally binds it, then WE will endeavor to end its gross existence and reduce it back to its Constitutionally intended size and function.

"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." -- John F. Kennedy
Do you have freedom, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happinness? If you don't think America loves you, go to a muslim country such as Iran and see how quick they put a burka on you. Then you will know just how much Uncle Sam loves ya.
