Windows, much like doors, (metaphorically), are the freedom to enter or exit. They are access from or to. We don't always get "light" from windows. Just as often, it's darker outside the window than in. We make our choices as to the "bad" or "good" of light or dark. We can choose to climb out the window even if it's three floors up, if we've evaluated the risk, compared to what we perceive as confining or intolerable where we are. Both windows & doors can be "enter" or "exit."
