i got a laptop about a year ago and i now want to put windows vista on it, how can i go about finding out if i have a free upgrade to it....there is a sticker on my laptop that says "windows vista capable" and my computer meats all the requiarements....so how can i find out if i can get a free upgrade??

Well if when you bought the laptop it said that you were free vista upgrade guarenteed then contact the store you bought it from or the manufacturer of your laptop. But I'm guessing it didn't, Now don't go download a copy cause that'll be illegal and you wont get all of the features and updates. You'll have to buy a vista update disk. There everywhere so don't worry. I find the best prices are often in office supply stores so check there. Now before you upgrade you have to check if everything you have hooked up to your pc may it be a internet card, video card, wi/fi card, mouse or keyboard you must go to each individual manufacturer's site and check for new drivers. Back up all the important stuff on your drive and insert the disk if it asks you if you want to upgrade (keep all old programs and drivers RECONMENDED) or Format (Delete all programs and drivers and start from scratch) select upgrade. Tada. Now my pc had a free vista upgrade and it works like a charm. If you want vista to work seemlessly on your laptop you must buy it from your pc manufacturer because you pay a bit more but all the drivers that came with your laptop originally will get updated to vista drivers and there is not hassle.
