For best yields, plant okra in the spring 2-3 weeks after all danger of frost has passed. For a good fall crop, plant at least 3 months before the first fall frost. Plant okra seed about 1 inch deep and 2 inches apart in the row. See figure 1. Space the rows at least 3 feet apart. When the okra is up and growing, thin the plants so that they are about 1 foot apart. See figure 2.

Okra seeds should be planted about 1 inch deep and 4 inches apart in a row. Space the rows at least 30-36 inches apart. As soon as the okra emerges and forms it's second true leaves, thin the plants so that they are about 12-18 inches apart.

Okra is a fairly large plant. At maturity you are going to have plants that are 2 to 3 feet in diameter. I would allow at least 3 feet between rows. Unless you really like Okra I would not plant more that 4 plants, they really produce a lot of fruits on each plant.

a 16inche or more they grow tall sometimes and they only bush out a little could go wider without any problems
