When I drink beer I fall right to sleep. All my friends are up having fun, playing pranks on me and I fall asleep. Anything I can do? Maybe switch to another alcholic drink?

Maybe don't drink too much where you pass out.

IF you have liver damage, stop drinking now. There is no real weekly allowance to consume alcohol when you have liver problems. If your liver is run down, that could be one very valid reason why you are so tired and irritable. You say you aren't drinking much water and that's a huge mistake. Get those 8-10 glasses in you per day and you may feel a lot better. Bottom line, see your doctor if you are feeling that run down. Your health may actually be declining if you are continuing to drink.

Well, if I'm up partying with friends, and the conversation is stimulating. I probably won't fall asleep, and can even be drinking shots at 4:30 in the morning.
But if I'm curled up with a book, and drinking beer, yeah, I'll drop off.

Alcohol is a sedative, so yes it will make you drousy or relaxed. It can also be a mood enhancer, so that is why you often see the obnoxious or even violent drunks. If you are depressed, it will likely make you more depressed, etc.

They type of alcohol won't change the affect, since there is only one type of drinkable alcohol, all the brand name and drink forms are just additives to the same fundamental liquid that your body is reacitng to. You might try coffee laced drinks to offer some counter stimulation, but your best bet is to drink less quantity...

I suspect that what's happening is that alcohol relaxes you, and you fall asleep as a result. If you want to stay awake, I'd stay away from alcohol entirely. I don't have anything against alcohol - but clearly if it has the effect of making you sleep, it's not going to change simply because you drink it in a different form, so if you want to stay awake, you're going to have to cut back, or possibly stay away from it until you're READY to go to sleep :-)

alcohol is a depressant so it would make some, if not most, people to become tired.

People get kinda goofy on it because they're relaxed, uninhibited and sometimes the excessive amount of sugar from the alcohol can make you goofy. BUT you will come crashing down.

No but I get a headache right away, which is one reason I don't drink. Have a rum and coke, the caffeine might help! Or else just get some new friends....

Alcohol is a depressant, so it makes you sort of drowsy. Not sure if this is good advice for your health, but try my "Vegas Drink", Red Bull and Vodka! LOL

Getting tired is only for the novice. Keep practicing and you'll eventually reach the Pass Out stage.
