The cable size needed is dependant on the size of the shower and the distance between consumer unit and the shower, minimum would normally be a 6mm cable although some of the newer high output showers would require a 10 mm cable.

The cable you need depends on the output of the shower measured in Kilowatts. Go to an electrical dealer and tell him how many kilowatts your shower is and he will supply the correct cable. you will also need a shower pull cord switch and you may have to have the correct size fuse in you fuse box. Good luck

Read the shower instructions, it will tell you the cable rating you need. Thickness in this case is irrelevant, some of todays cable can be ultra thin and carry a heavy current. You definately need to make sure it is totally water secure!!!

Any electrical work in a bathroom is notifiable, that means you have to inform your LABC (Local Authority Building Control) before you start . They will then check that your work is within IEE Wiring Regulations and issue a covering certificate.
Therefore, unless you know what you are doing best get a Part P registered electrician to do the work for you, who will also issue a certificate covering the job.

The size of the cable depends on the current (amps) running through it. Since it is a heating device it will almost certainly require cable sufficient to take 13 amps (assuming you're in the UK). But I'm no expert on these matters, so as someone said, get someone in who knows what he's doing!

It's usually the same ampage as cooker cable. ask at the shop.
do you know how to wire it into the breaker board?
I dont know what your level of skill is with electrical work. If you have doubts then fork out for an electrician.
