me and my cousin were in her backyard when we spotted this wicked cute purple puff thing.
small, probably like the size of this "o"
it was one of the cutest things i've ever seen, same for my cousin.
they were around the trees, and once we cought one, it looked like a little purply puff (very light, almost white).
it had little wings like maybe how a fruit fly has.
they were never in clusters, when we found one it was always by itelf, kindof floating up into the air and trees.
lol but so i just remember them with my cousin today and i searched online and couldn't find ANYTHING about them!
if you could give me the name of these things that would be awesome!
we thought they might be a baby of some insect or bug.
cutest color ever
we havent seen any this year, but we did last year late summer.
and no we aren't insane lol, they had wings like a bug.
and i squished one accidently when tried catching one. oops.
i hope someone can answer this!

omg shutup they were bugs...they had wings, i accidently squished them with my cousin, my cousin was WITH ME trying to catch some, i'm 14 and she's younger and no we haven't been on drugs. -_-
i guess they were probably like baby fruit flies or something...or some diseased bugs. o_O
wow i knew this question couldn't be answered! i guess everyone is just stuck inside on the computer all day to realize the things out there... -_-

ok nvm i found out the answer to my question.
it's called a wooly aphid.
apparently reallyy bad for trees and the environment, but pretty cute.
there are different kinds.
the one i saw was a very purply, almost white one.
and it was so bright, almost glowing against the trees.

here is a picture of a white one:

it's a little bit different from the one i saw.
but atleast i know me and my cousins aren't insane lol :p

You probably have some kind of small hatchlings of some insect. These COULD be aphids, there are many different species of different colors. Woolly aphids appear white. They eat the leaves of trees and shrubs.

Why don't you try going to Bugguide.net and Whatsthatbug.com and see if you can ID them that way. They have several weird entires. If you still can't find it, send What's that bug an email asking them what it is.

I've seen a large fuzzy insect that was black and purple a long time ago. I was about 4, and don't remember anything about it.

Oh, sorry, I hadn't read your additional information that you found out it was a woolly aphid. Nice job!

What a cute little aphid; they are not that bad unless they are in huge numbers; they can cause curling leaves and flower petals, but mostly the tree does fine anyway. At least if they are like other aphids I have known.

I HAVE seen those before and thought they were just fuzz or something in the air! So I know what your talking about! Nobody believes me either (except my brother cause he was there) and I've tried looking them up in books and on the internet with no luck....your right....they are pretty cool looking. If you have any luck, lemme know! :)

Nevermind! I just read the rest of your ? LOL
