I've been very recently fascinated with our Universe and had an interesting thought. Our galaxies are comprised billions of stars, planets, etc; The Universe (assuming, sort of, that the universe is an unfathomably large closed system) is comprised of billions of galaxies, dark matter, etc. Do you think that there might be billions of different, "collections of Galaxies", maybe that occupy different laws and natural elements.

This is an interesting question but it suggests that there are possibly one set of physical laws behind Curtain One, and another set behind Curtain Two, etc., and I don't think that is at all possible since all of the galaxies we are discussing lie within THIS Universe, and they already react with one another. Also, these galaxies that we are talking about are huge beyond most people's comprehension...like 1000 Light Years Wide or more. It just isn't possible to position another one with a diferent set of physical laws anywhere even close to something that large without instant disaster resulting.

I saw the cute little words "diferent elements" in your question also... Hmm-m, given that we already have Protons, Neutrons, and Electrons; Atoms and Ions of Atoms, along with molecules of various combined atoms, where would you like to begin in the fabrication of something different? I would like to see this concept thrashed around a bit more. Personaly, I think that this very subject is what makes all scientists and astronomers look towards the stars all the time... The idea that there might be something new and different out there just waiting to be discovered or detected.
exactly what it might be is anyone's guess at this time. But, Hawkins goes way out on a limb sometimes with his mental wanderings about what MIGHT be out there.

Do you mean other universes? Because then maybe. But we have plenty of evidence that the other galaxies in this universe are similar in composition and physical laws to our own.
