not literally genuine, like everyone has a vote rather than electing people to vote for you, but genuine as in running and working democracies

There aren't any genuinely democratic countries in the world, that I'm aware of. It gets way too cumbersome with that many people. Most countries whove embraced democracy are Democratic Republics, where representatives are elected to do the actual governing.

How deprived are we talking here? Define genuine democracy. Your definition might be quite different than that of others.

Palestine. Israel if not for the US giving them $3 billion a year for their entire population of 6.3 million people. Houston TX has a larger population than Israel.
