4x - (2 - 3x) + 5

To simplify this equation, first take the parentheses out of the equation by using the distributive property. The distributive property states for any numbers a, b, and c:

a(b + c) = ab + ac

In your equation, there is no number in front of the parentheses, but there is a subtraction sign before them. Whenever you see a subtraction sign before the parentheses, then switch the addition and subtraction signs inside to the opposite sign and take away the parentheses:

4x - (2 - 3x) + 5

4x - 2 + 3x + 5 <=== signs switched

Now combine like terms:

7x - 2 + 5

Subtract 2 from 5:

7x - 3

This is your answer.

Hope this helped!

so we have 4x -2 + 3x +5 (distributing the -1 to everybody in the parentheses)

Now combine like terms: (4x + 3x) + (-2 + 5)

so we have, 7x + 3, which is the final answer.

The code in algebra (well,one of them) is a minus and a minus become a plus, a plus and a plus become a plus, a plus and a minus become a plus and a minus and a plus become a minus.
