Do fate and karma really happen?

I assume from the fact that you are posting this in the chemistry section that by serendipity you are referring to accidental scientific discoveries. If that is the case then yes I do as it is well documented.

Perhaps the best known case is the discovery of Penicillin when some bacterial cultures were accidentally contaminated with Penicillium mold and died.

You should also remember though that Louis Pasteur said "Chance favours the prepared mind", accidental discoveries often happen to people that are looking for the answer anyway.

I dunno but here's an interesting story.

I swing by a christian bookshop from time to time and top up my mobile. I figure the women who run it don't make any real profit from the top up so I throw a quid or so into the charity box on my way out.

More often than not, later on that day I'll win a tenner on the lottery or have a good few flops dealt to me when I'm playing cards. I even had a supermarket employee knock ten percent off my grocery bill so i didn't have to walk to the cashpoint a second time.

Funny thing is, it only happens when I'm not consciously thinking about the last time something fortuitous happened. Just doing it cause it seemed like the right thing to do.

Which is odd

Totally. I met my girlfriend on line. The first time we met physically was in Dubai. I bought her some perfume at the airport...or I was going to, but a fellow traveller advised me that perfume was individual to women because of their skin and how it reacted. I put the perfume back on the shelf and decided I would buy her some when I got there.

In Dubai, I told her about this and she was curious and took me to a shop selling perfume. All I could remember was that it was a strangly shaped flat bottle. I know absolutely zero about perfume.

She pointed to a bottle of 'Angel' on the shelf and said was it this? I was amazed! It was 'Angel'. She then took a bottle of it out of her bag...this is what I use she told me.

This was the first of many coincidences and surprises....

Serendipity is as true as the wind.

I have three stories.
I won the lottery of 10.8 million pounds (about 20 miliion dollars) Before you think I am lucky I did have to buy 10 million lottery tickets.

The other day I was minding my own business walking blindfolded in the middle of a road and I didnt get knocked down and killed. The road was blocked off.

I met a friend I hadnt seen since university 20 years before. It was at the university alumni party.
