Most every woman has a little bit of sadness after the baby comes. You are tired all the time, the focus is on the baby and not you anymore and generally you are trying to get into a new routine with little help and a body that is exhausted from sustaining another life for the last 9 months. If you are breast feeding , it can be even more wearing on you. Give yourself permission to just heal and let the house work go for awhile.
if you are feeling more than that, having crying jags, thinking about hurting yourself or the baby then that is completely different. Talk to your husband and especially your doctor who delivered you. There is no reason to suffer needlessly and Post partum depression is real and can be helped with medication. It is not something to be ashamed of . The only thing to be ashamed of ,is if you don't get the help you need.

then you probably do. If getting a shower, some sleep, and pedicure can't cure it...then call your dr., or make sure you mention it on your 6 week check up. If you are past your 6 week, then make an appt to come in and speak to either your dr. or the nurse practioner. You can have postpartum depression for up to the first year. Doesnt have to start immediately after birth either, can take up to your first couple of cycles, or even longer if you are breastfeeding.
Stay in your routine, but talk with someone. There are simple, mild medications one can take to ease everything, that will go away with time.
But take the steps to get back to your old self, and be there for your baby and you.
