In Maryland, the age of consent is 16. This means that if someone is involved in sexual relationship with an individual under the age of 18, it is not considered statutory rape if a 16-18 year old consents to the relationship. Any child under the age of 16 cannot legally consent, and any sexual relationship is illegal.
