But then some fool would come along and try to eat it. That is why God made it stink, man. If you get what you're asking for you may not like what you get. OK.

There is essentially one reason why poop stinks: aromatic chemicals. There could theoretically be a pill or drink that would treat the offending compounds. However, most of the known chemicals that sequester or react with compounds such as sulfur are most likely to be bad for your own system. Therefore, I don't believe total removal of unpleasant odor will be accomplished.

If it makes you feel better, just blame the microbes living in your intestines. They're making a lot of the stink!

Here's the foolish optimist: "Yes, they will find a way."

Here's the even more foolish optimist: "Yes, but when they do, they will realize it's a bad idea, and let it stink to remind us to treat it properly, as the potential medium for the transmission of disease."

We're working on two or three more important things right now. Besides, it's really a good idea for it to stink, so political conservatives won't mistake it for something else.
