I recently had a date where the guy just bought me coffee and took me for a drive. Very inexpensive and a very good time. It is the company that matters.

Yes I know that you asked guys but from a girl. I went on a date about 6 years ago. He wanted to get to know me so we drove to Lansing which was about 2 hours away we talked the whole time. We stopped and had a drink at a club that his band was going to be playing at. We drove and talked more and then stopped at Steak N Shake because we were starving. Then we drove home after really spending time together and talking not watching a movie or eating an expensive meal. I didn't want the night to ever end. We then listened to some music and he sang me a song. It was the best date ever and very little money was spent. We have been together ever since and have now been married for 7.5 years. You don't have to spend allot of money on a date for it to be special and if the girl makes you feel like you should then maybe you should move on.
I would rather have a bouquet of flowers that my husband stopped to pick for me than a dozen roses from a florist. I guarantee you there are people out there that would rather spend quality time (walking on the beach or going to a park) then spending lots of money for a movie and dinner.
Some of the best dates my husband and I have had were spent driving or sitting on the beach watching the sun set or rise. Quality not quantity is what matters. Good luck you have a kind heart and small things matter to you. Hope you weren't bothered that a girl answered your question.

Have I ever! I worked two husbands through a higher education before I managed to finish college myself. My last live-in let me pay for everything for years before I found out he made more money than I did. In fairness, he didn't want to take advantage of me, he had real problems with money. He was a spending junkie, and there are a lot of people like that in our materialistic society. I still miss him, but that's not the kind of relationship I want. So do we start asking for credit reports after the third date?

I took a gal fishing once, it cost me hardly anything, as I am part owner of the boat. We had a great day, she even caught a 16 pound Halibut. We watched the sunset, did some smooching and went back in for a nice dinner at her place.

My husband and I still laugh at one of our early dates - we went to a Chinese restaurant and the bill was around $20. We were poor college students then and I was afraid we would have to wash dishes - LOL! $20 might as well have been $2,000 back then!

Be honest about $55.00's--Movie, dinner, and one red rose, I handed that to her and said thanks for your company I really enjoyed spending time with you ,you deserve this. It ended well. We have seen each other more than once now.Sadly I have moved to a differnt state.
