Hi! I've been in health care for women and dentistry for over 25 years. And no, one day or two is not an issue if you take the pill when you remember to do so. Typically, you will ovulate and that is the purpose of the pill. You need to skip 2-3 days before this can be an issue and even then, it does not warrant a pregnancy threat. There is NO fertile time on the pill unless you repetitively miss and are asking for trouble. Most women do miss a day here and there, and take the pill when they do remember. But time after time you are asking for a problem. As long as you only miss a day here or there, you should be fine. If you have any other questions, please ask. M

The pill is 99.9% effective IF TAKEN CORRECTLY.
Now, that being said, your risk of pregnancy is not very high unless you miss pills often. If this is the first time you took a pill late, don't worry about it, especially if you have been on the pill for awhile. If you just stared taking the pill, your risk is higher. Some doctors tell you that the pill is not effective the first month that you take it. And that if you start on a particular day, the pills will not be effective the first month. The only way that the pills cover you from day one is if you take the first pill on the first day of your period.
Either way, if you are concerned, talk to whoever perscribed you the pill. Better safe than sorry, right?
I hope everything turns out okay for you.

Being even 12 hours late taking your birth control pill may increase your chance of getting pregnant. If you miss any of the first 21 pills in your pack you need to use an alternate birth control method such as a condom for the next 7 days.
If you are less than 24 hours late taking your birth control pill take your pill immediately and resume your regular pill schedule. However, if you remember your pill the next day and see you forgot the day before take both pills at the same time. Never take more than 2 pills in one day, unless directed to do so by your health care provider.
If it's been over 24 hours since you took your last birth control pill, take the pill you missed and take the next pill on schedule. Throw away the missed birth control pills and take the rest of your oral contraceptive package as scheduled.
Should you forget to take a birth control pill during the third week of your pack, finish all the oral contraceptives in your pack and skip the last 7 (non-hormonal) pills. Immediately begin a new birth control pill pack, understanding that you may not have another period until you are finished with this new package. Use another method of birth control until you have taken 7 pills from the new oral contraceptive package.

Yes, some can be fertile while on the pill if they fall in to a weight category that can make the pill ineffective at preventing against pregnancy. I would recommend checking with your doctor as well for additional information.

Umm it depends on what type of birth control your on if your on the regular one where its three weeks of one pill and one week with another than you should be ok as long as you took the pill the next day it say on the directions you have to double up if you missed it. I believe all you have to do is look up the birth control your on online and it will tell you what to do if you miss a day. But I would definately check before you have sex. PLEASE!! WE DON'T WANT ANY OPPS! :) Fertility wise I believe you still are as long as your having a period so if your on regular birth control yes if your on the ones where your period is decreased or you don't have one you might want to check with a doctor.

As long as you continue taking your pills on the proper days and the same time every day, your chances of getting pregnant are slim.
If you take your pills as directed, you cannot get pregnant during your "most fertile time" because you're not fertile. The pill stops ovulation.

You should be reading your pamphlet on what to do when you miss a pill.
I know on mine, if I miss a pill, I take it as soon as I remember and then take the next one at its scheduled time.
Also if I plan on having sex within a week I need to use another form of protection (condom).
So, read your pamphlet, call your doctor, or talk to the pharmacist.

There is definately a risk when you miss a pill. If you want to be safe, use a condom along with the pill this month.
