I find it useful at times. I try not to rely on it entirely because depending on what I'm looking up - at times I've noticed the information was outdated (or wrong) - and to me that's frustrating.
I've found if I just tweak my search on google or switch to another search engines is much more helpful (I have three at my finger tips in Explorer's tool bar - Google, Ask.com and Yahoo's - if they can't find it, chances are neither will Wikipedia) - but when I need quick fast information that isn't up to date, Wikipedia has been helpful there and resourceful. I would like to see a way to update it on a regular basis, I think I'd use it more often then.

Everyday more people are using (and helping update) Wikipedia. It is a great success story and a great example of how the Web can be used for an excellent cause: knowledge dissemination. Its founder, Jimmy Wales, has recently received the prestigious 2005 Saatchi & Saatchi Award for world changing ideas. But many people still wonder: how reliable is Wikipedia compared to, say, the traditional Encyclopaedia Britannica?

If you're thinking of doing research, it is a good place to start, but you cannot rely entirely on everything that's posted there since anyone is allowed to say "what's true" regardless of credentials. You don't really know if the information is true science, hearsay, or personal opinion.
You can pick out key concepts and keywords from their articles to help you in doing research easier, as you will know what to look out for.
Personally, my lecturers do not allow us to quote anything from wikipedia, as anybody can say anything there. You can even post your own article there and cite from yourself in a project (if that is what you want to, then it's good in a way... haha)!

Wikipedia is useful for topics that can be proven and have definitive answers. Any topic that is open to personal opinon is completely worthless on Wikipedia.

50/50 I like the amount of information I can find in a lot of different topics, but in the other hand some informations are plainly biased, confusing or just urban legends.
Good to have a general idea about a topic, but don't take it too seriously.

i had to write an article for our school paper about the accuracy of wikipedia, which really allowed to to do my research..I found it to be highly accurate.
Almost all wrongly corrected articles are corrected within 24 hours.
From what i gather, Wikipedia is for the most part, accurate and easy to use.
I love it!

I think Wikipedia is a remarkable site, but i once got heavily criticised on here for suggesting that it is not so accurate as to be authoritative all the time.
Useful, certainly...fool proof, never.
