Last week, I had six stitches in my hand to close a cut. Now, the wound is itching like mad! There are no red streaks or drainage; just the obnoxious itch! Can anybody tell me why this is? Serious answers only, please... thanks!

It's from the healing process...completely normal, provided it's not swollen, ultra-tender, or oozing stuff. Should go away once the stiches are out. Sometimes you can get a local "allergic" reaction to the stiches but if it's been more than a day since they've been put in it's not from that.....just normal healing.

It's itching because it's starting to heal. The skin tends to get tight and as it heals up it gets itchy. Ask your Dr if you can put aloe, vitamin E, or sensitive skin lotion on it. Best of luck to you.

it's healing. plain and simple. ask the doc if it's okay to use an ointment to ease the itch.
