I am scarred about what I have heard. Will the world end!?
Will the east coast be floded?! WIll the current of the atlanic ocean shift and the polar icecaps melt? Why has nasa says that they will give over $100 million and have orbited in space by 2012?! The mayan calander just ends?

Over the centuries, there have been a LOT of doomsday predictions. And so far, none of them has come true. It's in human nature to speculate about the world ending.
See the attached near the bottom that outlines some of the dates/predictions.

So? My phone says that the world will end on Christmas, 2067. Am I taking precautions against that? No. It's just the phone company assuming that I'll ditch the phone sometime between then and now.
The Mayan calendar most likely stopped due to a mathematical error in the way they created it, or just due to the fact that 2012 was so far in the future.

Chances are that nothing extraordinary will happen during the year 2012. At least in the catastrophies that you are fearing. I mean, other things are more likely to happen. Example: Casey Casum will still be counting down the new year, The US will elect another idiot to the presidency, drunk drivers will still get off scot-free even after 10 DWIs. :) Just a taste of what we should really be expecting. I hope this helps, good luck.

You know, five minutes searching other questions would end these endless repeats.
The Mayan calendar does not predict anything. Dec. 21, 2012 is simply where they ran out of room on the rock face to carve more calendar. No predictions of doom and gloom...just ran out of room on the rock.

The Hong Kong 'trouble makers' will make it becoming true.
Hong Kong will have free elections for both the executive branch and the legislative council.
This is a purely prediction, and a hope of 50%(?) of the Hong Kong people.
Majan calendar will end by 2012, so what?

A few greedy writers concocted books about the Mayan calendar proving that the world will end in December, 2012. The really amazing thing is that in all of these doomsday books there's not a single shred of scientific evidence that supports any of it.

The end of the Mayan calendar means nothing. A calendar is an artificial concept, developed by people to track the passage of time. No calendar system has even the slightest influence upon natural forces. There's nothing to be scared about.
