First question: Has anyone on here written an Ebook before?

Second question: How do you go about doing it?

Last question: Are there any (free) Ebooks on writing? (Tips on writing, writing in general, getting a book published)

YOu find a publisher publishing e books in your genre. I had the opportunity and turned it down. A e book is meaningless unless YOU the author can do the marketing so that people know it is there to buy. The e publisher will do nothing for you along those lines - it is up to you. And I figured it just wasn't worth the 2 bucks a book or less you earn in royalties to do all that work when nobody even knows the book is there. Besides I believe in real books. I own a real live library with brick walls a fireplace and leather furniture. And shelves and shelves of hardcover volumes. What am I going to do? Shelve disks?? I don't believe e books will ever take the place of real books. And as an author, I am fully aware that if you publish an e book, one person will pay for it then share copies with their friends who will share copies with their friends and so on. That is why JK Rowling won't do it. It would hurt hardcover sales way too much. Bad idea in my mind.

The best book on writing is Stephen King On Writing. Not a free e book. If you are serious about your craft, you have to invest some money to make money. Get a job and buy it. It is well worth it. It shouldn't cost you more than one or two nights of babysitting or mowing a couple lawns. Stealing material protected by Federal Copyright Laws is a federal offense.

an e-book is written the same as a paper book, they do tend to be shorter, but that also depends on the genre. Submission process is much the same, but many e-publishers do request different formatting.

All formatting on a manuscript can be altered to fit the requirement of the publisher.

NO publisher will read past the first page (and sometimes won't get past the query letter) if there are a lot of spelling, grammar and misused words, -- and the book MUST hold their interest beginning to end.

An eBook is no different than any other book. The electronic medium is simply another method of distribution.
