Based on what you use it for you have a lot of options. Go to Sams Club or Costco if you can to see options. Otherwise search online for deals. I recommend a PC with an Intel chip. You will need a monitor, printer, keyboard, etc. since you have a mac but I've seen perfect computers (nice packages) for around $300 just recently.

PCs are very good. You are prejudiced. lol. However, you can buy a desk top for $400 and any brand is good. Remember, 85% + of the world uses PCs. You will like being a part of main stream, I guarantee it.

if you're looking for PC laptop, I'd say go with dell or HP they both have decent pricing for what you get and are good quality. Dont let them sucker you into paying tons more for stuff you dont need.

Dells are reliable, and Sony Vaios are nice if you can afford one.

For the same price, though.. you could get a low-spec MacBook. Or find one on eBay?

If you can't afford a new one, try www.craigslist.com in your area. Just be sure to hook everything up and make sure it runs before you buy it.
