Matter == Big Bang

Planets are currently believed to condense out of the same interstellar gas that form the central star.

Wow this is the big one.

All matter was created with the universe. The most acceptable scientific explanation currently is the big bang.
Very shortly after the Big Bang fundamental particles started to clump together under gravity to form clouds of hydrogen. These also collapsed under gravity to form the first stars.

In these stars and during their destruction, all the elements were created. When these stars died they created stellar nebulae. From these nebulae new stars were born full of these new elements and from what was left over after the star formation the planets were formed.

That's a very potted history, you need the check out cosmology.

Well, my personal belief is that God created both. One theory, possibly Darwin's, is that matter can neither be created or destroyed. This leads me to believe that there is an ultimate being which I call God.

I am a baptist, and am majoring in Chemical Engineering, so I've learned that some theories I'm taught are somewhat hard to fit with my religion.

in the big bang matter and anti-matter were formed. but there was an imbalance. for every 1000 particles of antimatter there were 1001 particles of matter. all these leftover matter particles were either hydrogen or helium. the explosions of matter and antimatter created energy and the hydrogen and helium created heat. in the really hot heat of the supernovas the heat worked as a nuclear reactor and created all the other, heavier, elements.
