you need to read your documentation on how to do this. see the mobo maker's website if you don't have the papers.

[DxDiag will usually figure out what mobo you have if you don't know ... see "Start", and "Run", then type in 'DxDiag' and enter.]

some, hopefuly now all retired, computers had no way to remove and replace the cpu. yours may not be upgradable even if it can be replaced.

and no, the cpu doesn't contain any of the memory items you're concerned about.

however, the cpu is very delicate and static electricity shock might ruin it when it isn't installed.

This is something on which you need to consult a computer expert, or at least someone who is in your area who has their own computer business. This is because the processor is the brain of the computer, so to speak. You have to really know what you're doing before replacing a processor. It's not just the processor: there's cache and all kinds of crap that's hard to explain. And not all processors are compatible with all systems. Again, consult someone who is very involved with computers, because you could seriously damage the entire system if you make a mistake.

The best of luck to you!

If you are carefull and gentle enough (like a surgent) you can deattach the CPU and nothing happens to your computer. Maybe when you attachted it and restarted the machine Bios will make auto settings for your CPU.

But not recommended, because deattaching it will lose some thermal paste and weaken it's cooling power. And there is every can kind of risk. CPU's are ver fragile to humidity, shock, yelling :)
