I had the shock of my life last week. I went to the doctor about having a virus! and I was told to take a urine test. She then said that it came back positive for being pregnant! The next day I went and had a blood test and it came back negative (relief!) is there still a posibility I could be pregnant though? Why would my urine test have come back positive? HELP lol.

I had just finished having a period about 2 weeks ago though, it wasn't as heavy as usual but it didn't seem overly abnormal like "Spotting" or anything. My next period is due in about 13 days so hopefully that will give me some closure. Also I am on the pill, and do not drink or take any medications that could interfere with the contraception. However my bf and I do have very frwquent un protected sex.

You may have been beginning to implant, and then it stopped. It's estimated that these early miscarriages happen to about 50% of fertilized eggs but that most women never know because it's so early.

Only way for positive test results is if it detected the HCG hormone.

Are you on any medications that have the HCG hormone in it? That is a good reason for a false positive.

Another way, maybe she mixed your test up with another? That is not out of the realm of possibility.

Either way, a blood test is 98-99% effective so there is a VERY small chance the blood test was inaccurate. But the same can be said for the urine test.

I say to test again in a couple weeks just to be sure. Good luck!

You could still be pregnant, the blood test may not be detecting the hormone levels yet. I have known people that the urine tests came positive but blood levels were inconclusive but they were pregnant. I would wait a couple more weeks before "relief" you may still be. Your hormone levels wouldnt just drop off in one day. The virus of course or medications could of affected both tests

IS your period late?

in the previous doing a urine attempt it particularly is stated to no longer use the bathing room or drink any drinks 4 hours in basic terms before taking the attempt. that could desire to describe why you had the damaging urine assessments on the standard practitioner. The blood assessments sounds like it particularly is sturdy on course. for the period of early being pregnant the situation is not any rely if the numbers are doubling each and every 40 8 hours or so. it particularly is beneficial to call and ask your Dr. in the event that they could do yet another blood draw on Thursday just to help calm your anxieties. Congratulations!

most likely a very early miscarriage. the hcg hormone metabolizes more quickly into & out of the blood (meaning it can be detected sooner & gets out faster when it's not being produced) than it does in the urine.

i think it may have been a false positive even though its rare in pregnancy. But blood tests are definately more accurate than urine.

Sounds like something went wrong with implantation. It sounds like you wouldn't have welcomed the news but I'm still sorry. It sucks to go through the ups and downs of it.
