could you tell me if this is a weed or a flower?

it's currently 3 1/2 ft tall, so i want to rip it out if it's a weed before it grows too tall. at first i thought it was a flower, since it kinda looked pretty.

it has a pretty little yellow flower and the leaves are very soft?... look at 'velvet leaf'....I let a few grow in my garden because I like them.. but they are invasive if you don't keep up with them and remove the seed heads!!...

It looks familiar but I can't place it. I'd research it, but there just isn't enough information for me to even get started. Let it flower and see what you get. A weed is a plant or flower that you don't want so why not see if you like it. If you don't then just rip it out and if you like it then keep it.

A weed is just a plant in the wrong place. If you like it you keep it. If not just get rid of it.

Well, If you didn't plant it there and it's unruly then it's probably a weed.
