After reading all the sources the fine people above me provided, you will most likely want to start taking it. I do and I am 26 weeks pg.
Just make sure you get a really good quality one (one without mercury)... go to a health food store and ask around. I use a brand called Omega Mom. Also, I sometimes you can get a fishy after taste... to stop that, just put the Omega 3's in the fridge, it really helps.

Research has suggested that increasing intake of dietary omega-3 fatty acids may have a number of health benefits. And babies whose diets include an abundance of essential fats seem to have an edge in terms of early development. Now new research shows that the same is true for infants born to mothers whose diets contain plenty of this essential fatty acid.
Researchers found that infants born to mothers with higher blood levels of the omega-3 fatty acid docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) at delivery had advanced levels of attention spans well into their second year of life. During the first six months of life, these infants were two months ahead of those babies whose mothers had lower DHA levels.

Fish Oil or Omega three is the new folic acid! But for a different reason. Babies exposed to Folic acid inutero or through breast milk has been linked to less processing disorders in children.

A component of Fish Oil, DHA, is very important for the develpepment of the babys brain. The mother passes on much of her own DHA to the child. It is important to supplement this for both the mother and childs health.

It's very good for you and baby, just be aware that one side effect is lowering blood pressure, so if yours goes too low, stop taking it or adjust your dose.
