I am from Northern Louisiana and people always say that I look as if I am "black creole." Now, I am by no means light skinned, but people have always asked me that. From my understanding, I thought that a creole person was light with wavy hair etc and most of these people reside in Southern Louisiana. So, my question is, what exactly is a black creole. I have searched all of the net and still have not been able to find answers to this. All opinions are welcomed.

Thanks

creoles can look just like any other black person. light skinned dark skinned kinky hair wavy hair. creole ppl are mostly from southern la, ms, tx, al, all near the gulf...but they can be anywhere else too. i person can have creole in there family or they can be creole. creole is french, african, indian and sometimes hispanic.

a lot of info can be found on wikipeida so check it out.

now, im creole(french african indian) im medium brown with a lot of red toens. i have amber eyes and curly kinky hair tha is longish. i speak a little of the creole language. im not from la, but my family is. i lived there in new orleans in gretna for a few years when i was small.

also, all creole is "home grown." thats what the word means. id say to really tell if you are "black creole" is your skin...is it redder? are your eyes lighter in color...what about your family? (do you always crave jambalaya but you dont know why??? lol, j/k about that one)

its something you should look into...its a culture to be proud of....i know i am. who knows you might be a fellow creole chicka and THAT would be awesome...lol

oh yeah also check into cajuns. ive never met a black cajun but im sure they exist. if you are creole you def. want to know the differences b/n cajuns and creoles....one is our food tastes better...lol

good luck chicka or as we say bon chance mon amie,

-chai

Creole people just look like any other black person. Technically their is really no such thing as a creole race. I know plenty of creole people in the south, including me and my family who is from Louisiana but we call ourselves black. Creole just mean you have a mixture of Black,French and Native American in your heritage. Creoles can come in many shades, with different facial features and hair textures, their are not always light skin with light eyes or wavy hair. Look at actress K. D. Aubert or Lynn Whitfield

I thought that Creole represented black people with a French background. I'm not as knowledgable in this area as Chai. But I pulled up a link for you to read. It's an interesting subject.
