Do the things you most love in the world. Listen to nice, uplifting music. Take walks. Read a good book, preferably something that will make you laugh. Watch a great movie. Spoil yourself with a vacation, or your favorite foods. The possibilities are endless!

The answer to that is relative because what is positive for someone (swimming) might be a "no - no" for another (fear of water).
Ways to ease stress depends on the individual, the person first has to identify what he/she likes and then use it to ease stress. All the other answers have given good ideas for easing stress i.e. reading, listening to music, yoga, strolling, jogging etc but finally it depends on you and what you like. ( You might enjoy sleeping - I've heard it works!!!).

Is your question, how can one use stress as a positive thing???

Stress can be a motivator in your life. It can be your friend or foe.

Positive-Force you to make changes for the better, forces you to get organized and figure out solutions, forces you to stay motivated in bettering yourself as much as possible to avoid further stress down the road

Foe-do I really even need to explain?!

There are many positive outlets for stress from reading a book, to hitting the heavy bag, to walking and jogging.

Yoga seems to be really popular nowadays.

I train in the martial arts, have been for 22 years now....and it's always been a good way to vent out frustration and stress.

Other than that, lots of folks have turned to Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi.

Also, you have vacationing, meditating, writing, reading, etc etc.

Then, you have the dumb schmucks who do drugs, constant drinking, etc....and they're nothing but the same no-self-image-having dregs that every generation's always had. Walking, talking cliches every one.

OMG! Yoga is not only popular, but it works to calm your spirit, focus on breath, and it feels sooooo good! Going for a walk is awesome too. Walk until you cant walk anymore. *good luck*
*also, realize what you can and cant change about the situation, do what you can, leave the rest alone.. no really, leave it alone*
