1. Find a quiet place and time, and go there on a regular basis.

2. Start by praising God, and telling Him how awesome He is.

3. Thank Him for everything He has done for you. (Which is quite a lot, but you can name a few for starters

4. Pray for all your enemies. Pray for the lost. Pray for your parents and your children, brothers and sisters.

5. Pray for yourself.

6. Now, it's time to make a request or two if you have done all of the above.

7. Close with something like "In Your name we pray, Amen."

Praying is a form of communication with God. Thus, it is very important that the pray comes from the heart and is not mechanical as when it is memorized. But there are rules - for communicating always has rules. Always bear in mind that you are communicating with the highest person (a spiritual person) and therefore there should be a profound respect. This does not mean an elimination of openness but rather a recognition to His incomparable authority.. We can learn what the structure of a prayer should be by basing on that which Jesus Christ provided in Matthew - the "Our Father" (NOTE: it is only a guide). A prayer that aims for something bad is useless, for it will not be heard. But unfulfilled prayers do not mean "unheard prayers". Most of all, when you pray, be sure that you have faith in whom you pray to.

I'll assume that this is a serious question... and if I might, I'll rephrase the question... how can I come to know God... or how can I get the God's support so my own life gets better?

Monks, Mystics and Yogis have been doing this kind of thing for centuries... it has more to do with stillness, since the idea is to become a "receiver" rather than a "transmitter,"

If you want a better understanding of it pick up on this free on line resource... Gospel Enigma. Chapters 21-22 if you have no time to read the whole thing.

if you want you can use a formal prayer like the Lords prayer or Psalm 23 or whatever, but that is not important; God doesn't really care too much if you give Him that. He's not like a public school teacher follwing Board of Ed. guidelines. You don't need to worry about a thesis or punctuation.

the most important thing you do when you pray is be honest with yourself and with God. He will answer every prayer you offer, though you may not always understand His answer and it will not always be what you want to hear. But don't fool yourself, and don't try to fool God, that's the way to get the fastest and best results from your praying.

You can pray any way you want. There is no right or wrong way to do it. Understand, though, that the answers you might receive may not be what you wanted or expected. You may think you are getting no response because you aren't listening for them. Look for answers through other living things; people, pets, feelings. God (or the Supreme Being, or whatever you call him/her) doesn't seem to be direct in dealing with us. Pray whenever you feel like praying. There are no rules.

Jesus the Son of God gave us the model to follow in the Bible in Matthew 6:9. You may want to check out this website as well. I personally feel that the simpler the prayer the more effective. Here's a few guidelines I use: 1. Address God i.e. Dear Father,Almighty Lord,Creator of the Universe...whichever you are comfortable with, just as long as you feel in your heart you are talking to God. 2.Acknowledge that you accept God's help regardless of the circumstances.i.e. Your(God's) will be done. 3.Make your requests, thanking God for them before you receive. Yes, BEFORE. This tells God you have faith. 4.Since none of us are perfect we must ask forgiveness not only for our sins but the sins of others. 5. Thank God again for your blessings and close with a trusting and cheerful AMEN!!

Because I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, I can say talk to him with all your heart in your heart and soul. If you can talk to Him this way, you will get answers. However, sometimes He says no too. We cannot use God to get our own way if it's only going to hurt us in the long run.
Read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John of the Bible and you will learn from Jesus Himself how to pray.

There is no formula you need follow, just talk with God as you would if he were standing right in front of you. Spontaneous prayer from the heart is the most real, you will get more comfortable with it as you practice.

no you should not .prayer is spiritual and is not about getting what you want its about giving god your heart and letting him hear you need him and love him prayer is not an essay but something that comes from the heart just put your hands together and close your eyes and devote and invest your time in the lord

Speak to your god in your heart, opening yourself to his wisdom and benevolence and asking more for the benefit of his greatness than demanding particular results. If he is the right one to pray to, he is wise enough to know what is best for you.
