I always assume the best in people but if they don't have any history or track record, I'd be careful.
I don't see the point in having a contact that doesn't answer at least once in a while.

I recently opened my Q&A to public view I did this on principle. I am here to have fun and improve my writing and typing skills. If I get deleted Q&A's so be it. If I get suspended so be it. I will not live in fear of losing points that can not be redeemed for cash. Now bring money into it then maybe I would be worried but these points really are useless. In fact if someone is a big enough imbecile to spend time reporting all my answers then I think they deserve to waste their time following me. The only trolls we have to fear are the hobgoblins in our own minds. Right now I can answer 80 questions a day I rarely get to that many, it does seem like I might today. I have had a lot of free time today/night. If I lose this account and choose to stay with Y!A which is not a certaintity that I would. I would just make enough accounts to answer what I wanted to answer. I have no attachment to this screen name, avatar or points.

Well, maybe because these people like your questions or answers. Why is it a bad thing that people are adding you as their contacts? When people add me as their contacts, I find it a good thing. I don't think there's anything to worry about. I mean, some people here, on Yahoo! Answers, are trolls, but you can't expect every person to be one. Some people here are really nice and could set a great example for you, or even help you out with a question.

I know how you feel babe...that has happened to me quite a few times! It really bothers me and sometimes I will add them anyway...but if I get a bad feeling about it then I either don't add them or I will wait and check them out a little first! When I see that they're OK and harmless then I go ahead & make them my contact too! These days I think it's always better to err on the side of caution!

Well, Haroula I think because some people see the score you have and are interested at picking your brain or the possibility thet they are trolls is a definite possibility. There are traps out there and that is why if a person has a low point total I am weary and I watch to see if they do not do any thing and if not then I will delete them.

I've wondered about things like that too, especially when I gave a damn about this stupid place.
I would message people and they wouldn't even return any message.
However, I could not care less about this dump any longer.
I hate this place, and if someone wants to troll me..more power to their sorry asses.
Obviously, that's what YahHell wants out of these idiots.
Trolls run this site, not the good people.
I add contacts because I would like us all to stick together and slam those that deserve abuse reports.
We are growing in numbers and can cause sufficient harm to bad people if we really wanted to.

I know the quandry, dear. That's why my profile text is worded exactly the way it is. And if anyone's too @#$%ing lazy to read a profile before adding, then they're usually no one I want to be bothered with in the first place.
Sure, this may make me seem like a world class b*tch. BFD. I've been called worse by better people. This isn't a popularity contest like other Cyberian dung heaps. My friends rock. Part of my Y!A defense measures is directly related to protecting them, too. And *that* is non-negotiable. ;oD

Well don't worry about it too much. I have contacts where I hardly ever answer their questions - often they're in a different time zone and they resolve the question while I'm still asleep!
But I like to keep up with them and what they are doing.

Maybe they liked your answers or questions although I would be a bit weary of that as well. If that happened to em I would purge my whole contacts list and re add the people I wanted to re add. All you would have to do in order to purge your whole list would be to edit your info and check the box that says don't allow other users to be your contacts and save it. Then you can uncheck that option and save it as well.

I have people who pick me and have nothing in common with me either. I do ask them why and some reply and become good contacts. The ones who refuse to reply, I end up blocking since they are new accounts not doing anything but collecting womens avatars.
That bothers me since I've had problems before.
